2. Information on this website

The content on this site is general information about garage doors, written to be useful to homeowners and property managers in our service area. It is not a substitute for an inspection of your actual door.

We take care to be accurate. Where we quote a figure — a census statistic, a climate normal, a municipal code provision — we link to the source so you can check it. Codes, ordinances, permit requirements and municipal programmes change, and we cannot guarantee that every referenced rule is current at the moment you read it. 3. No quote is formed by this website

Nothing on this site is an offer, a quotation, or a binding price. We do not publish prices because a garage door quote depends on the door's weight, opening dimensions, headroom, existing hardware and condition. A price is given only after inspection, and only in writing or verbally by us.

4. Safety warning

Garage doors store a large amount of energy in their springs. A torsion or extension spring under tension can cause serious injury or death if released without the correct tools and technique. Nothing on this website should be read as an instruction to attempt spring, cable or drum work yourself. Where our articles describe how a component works, that is to help you understand what has failed and speak to a technician — not to help you repair it.

If your door is off its track, hanging unevenly, or has a broken spring, stop using the opener and keep people and vehicles clear of the opening until it has been inspected.

5. Service work

• A service call charge applies to diagnostic visits and is disclosed when you book.
• Work proceeds only after you have been told the fault, the proposed remedy and the cost, and have approved it.
• Where a repair requires a part we do not carry, we will make the door safe and return with the part.
• We may decline work that we believe cannot be carried out safely or that will not last — for example fitting a new door to structurally unsound framing.
• Access is your responsibility: we need to be able to reach the door, and in alley-served garages that includes the alley approach.

6. Permits and approvals

Where a permit, inspection or historic-district approval is required for work at your property, obtaining it is ultimately the property owner's responsibility. We will tell you when we believe an approval is likely to be needed and point you to the right municipal department, but we cannot warrant that a particular approval will be granted.

7. Intellectual property

The text, photography, layout and design of this website are owned by Evanston Garage Door Repair Guys and may not be copied, republished or used commercially without written permission. You are welcome to link to any page on this site.
