What the door is doing
Not moving at all? Moving a foot and stopping? Reversing on the way down? Making a specific noise at a specific point? Each of those points at a different part of the system.
01 Contact
We run this as a call-only business, and that is deliberate. Two minutes describing what the door is doing gets you a more useful answer than any form ever will — often including whether you need us at all.

02 Before you call
None of these are required. But if you have them handy, we can usually narrow the fault down before we leave the shop — which sometimes means bringing the right part on the first visit instead of the second.

"Original to the house" is a perfectly good answer. So is "replaced maybe ten years ago." It tells us what hardware generation we are likely walking into.
Look at the shaft above the door opening. A visible gap in the coil, or a spring in two pieces, means a spring failure — the single most common cause of a door that will not lift.
Eight or nine feet wide, or sixteen? On older Evanston garages it is often a single, and that changes both the parts and the approach.
A detached alley garage and an attached garage off the kitchen are different jobs — different access, different opener options, different insulation logic.
Door stuck open with the garage insecure, a section leaning off its track, a car trapped, or a spring that let go with a bang. Say so at the start of the call.

03 Where we are
The shop sits on Brown Avenue between Lee Street and Greenleaf Street, in Evanston's west-side working belt. Dodge Avenue is one block east, Main Street a block and a half south, and the Robert Crown Community Center is a couple of minutes away at Main and Dodge.
It is a working shop, not a showroom — the vans load here and the stock lives here. You are welcome to call in, but ring first so someone is actually on site rather than under a door somewhere in Wilmette.

04 Opening hours
| Day | Hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Busiest morning of the week — call early if you can |
| Tuesday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Standard service day |
| Wednesday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Standard service day |
| Thursday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Standard service day |
| Friday | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Installations usually scheduled here |
| Saturday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Repairs and emergencies; fewer trucks running |
| Sunday | Emergency calls only | Door stuck open, car trapped, security compromised |
We do not advertise 24-hour service, because a two-van shop cannot honestly promise a technician at 3am. What we do instead is answer the phone during a long working day, and take genuine emergencies outside those hours. If your door has failed on a Sunday and the garage is open to the street, call — that is exactly what the emergency line is for.
05 Coverage
Our service area is deliberately compact. Everything below is within roughly ten road miles of the shop, on a single arterial in most cases.
Not on the list? Call anyway — if you are close to the edge of the map we will tell you straight whether we can help or whether you are better off with someone nearer.

06 Questions we get asked
One call reaches the people who will actually be doing the work. Tell us what the door is doing and we will tell you straight what it needs — and when we can get a truck to you.
